Castillo Fundraiser
I come from that society and there is a common thread, specifically family values - the idea that you do anything for your family, and the unconditional love for one's children.

I can not separate myself from life.
I can only be joyful and whole. This is why I dance.

S.T.A.N.D. - YMCA Operation Backpack
Early last week, Perfectly Imperfect Designs was cordially invited to become the "Official Photographer" for S.T.A.N.D. Houston! I had two days to rejoice before the Salsa Social 2 for the YMCA Operation Backpack event. I was counting down the days because I had a blast at the last event I photographed for S.T.A.N.D. Houston.
Friday afternoon finally came around, I packed my camera and picked up the rental lens and off I went to SSQQ Dance Studio. I walked and and Renee and Monica already had my shirt and right there I felt officially one of the S.T.AN.D.
DJ Salsa Eddy and DJ Spikey started us off with a little social dancing music...

Later we had 4 wonderful performances by Cla-v Edition, Rueda Houston, Mambo Violento and Kanonazo Kaminaso Kamina

3rd Annual Dance for Autism
I was honored to photograph this eye opening event last Friday at Melody Club. I witnessed hundreds of performers, donors, family members and friends gathered around for the same reason, to raise money for Dance for Autism; and without a doubt they were able to raise over $4,300 for The Music Therapy Center of Houston.
The dance performers were amazingly graceful, the desserts from Sweet Pea's Delights were heavenly and most of all we all had an absolute blast! Thank you all for allowing me the pleasure to see Houstonian's come together to help find a cure for Autism!

According to Autism Speaks, did you know ...
- Autism now affects 1 in 88 children and 1 in 54 boys
- Autism prevalence figures are growing
- More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes & cancer combined
- Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the U.S.
- Autism costs the nation $126 billion per year
- Autism receives less than 5% of the research funding of many less prevalent childhood diseases
- Boys are four times more likely than girls to have autism
- There is no medical detection or cure for autism

S.T.A.N.D. Houston Salsa Social
About 6 months ago I signed up for a salsa class and to my surprise it instantly became an addiction, just like photography did. I noticed that when I dance, nothing in the whole wide world matters. All my fears, problems and anxieties just disappear. I have gradually surpassed milestones in the last few months by moving up dance levels but the biggest achievement so far was my successful audition into Salsa Eddy's Student Dance Team. I have had my first two 2-hour practices and it's such an amazing feeling to be apart of a team where people share your same love for dancing.
Not only was this was an incredible night but also a wake up call for me because I realized that I could accomplish my two favorite activities at the same time, photography and dance. Not to mention all for a great, heartfelt cause. Thank you S.T.A.N.D. Houston for having Perfectly Imperfect Designs photograph and be apart of your fantastic event!
